Standard Insurance
All Rent a Dent vehicles have insurance cover. Many vehicles in New Zealand do not have insurance so it makes good sense at Rent a Dent to have all rental vehicles insured. For this reason we include vehicle insurance in all rates quoted. This is referred to as our standard insurance cover.
Provided the "Rental Terms and Conditions" and use of the vehicle is complied with by the hirer (and the listed additional drivers) a standard Insurance excess applies to all drivers.
Drivers under the age of 25 years have a higher excess applied. A higher excess will also apply to vans, passenger vans, mini coach, trucks, specialty vehicles and 4WD vehicles.
Excess
- The Standard Insurance Excess for 25 years and over is from $1700.
- Drivers under the age of 25 years have a higher excess applied.
- A higher excess will also apply to vans, passenger van, mini coaches, trucks, specialty vehicles and 4WD vehicles.
- An additional $500 will apply to 21to 25 year old drivers but this is subject to vehicle and drivers.
- Other drivers from 18 to 21years of age will have an additional loading of $1000 but this subject to vehicle and drivers.
License Criteria
All drivers are to have held a full license which has been current for a minimum of 3years.
CDR (Collision Damage Reduction)
CDR can be purchased as an optional extra to reduce the applicable insurance excess. CDR is offered at the time of pickup and prior to the hire commencing. The Standard Insurance Excess for 25 years plus is from $1700. (Drivers age 21 to 25 years have an additional loading of +$500 and aged 18 to 21years an additional loading of +$1000 but is subject to vehicle type and drivers)
To reduce this excess a daily payment is required additional to the hire rate (only applies to drivers 25 years and over). The excess will reduce to a minimum of $400 (only applies to drivers 25 years and over) in the event of an accident involving another vehicle.
In the event of an accident, a claim form must be completed by the hirer (or the listed additional driver) and handed in to the Rent a Dent branch.
Windscreen Excess
The insurance excess on a damaged windscreen or other window is $500
